Mike Tyson burst upon the boxing scene with a bang in 1985. He was labelled as ‘the iron man with a perfect body’. He became the world’s heavyweight champion at the early age of 20, which in itself was a remarkable feat. He earned in two years what the legendary Mohammad All (Cassius Marcellus Clay) earned in 15 years. It was presumed that he earned about Rs. 50 crore during that period. He has already won world championship title of World Boxing Council, World Boxing Federation and World Boxing Association.

Frank Mike Tyson was born on June 29, 1966, at Brooklyn in the US. He lost his parents while he was just a child. This had an adverse effect on his life. He came in contact with some anti-social elements of Brooklyn township. He joined a group of hoodlums and was soon  imprisoned. He was attracted towards boxing in prison due to inspiration provided by a trainer. He was greatly encouraged by his success in the first bout at Albin on March 11, 1985. Only eight months later, he won the `Trevor Burbick’ heavyweight title on November 22, 1985. On March 7, 1987, he defeated Jacks Smith and then Tony Tucker on August 2. On May 30, 1987, he overwhelmed Thomas and defeated Tony Tubbs on March 21, 1988. Larry Holms is also amongst those who have been subdued at his hands. Tyson is still repentant about his wayward early life. He won the International Boxing Federation championship after defeating Michael Sphins. He defended his title in 1989 by defeating many challengers, but was defeated in 1990.
