World Health Day – 7th April

World Health Day on the seventh of April is an awareness campaign in favour of healthy life, as health is wealth. A healthy, peaceful and satisfied person spreads peace in the society and helps the progress of a nation. On this very day of seventh April, the World Health Organisation (WHO) was established in the year 1948. The WHO aims to aid the attainment of the highest possible level of health by all the people. The WHO defines health as being a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely an absence of disease or infirmity. The importance of an attitude of a person to the illness, the role played by music and yoga have been stressed.

Our health is in our hands only. To achieve this, a knowledge of body and mind is necessary.

In ultra-modern life, a defective lifestyle is fast emerging. Health problems associated with obesity and many diseases arising from faulty lifestyle such as hypertension, diabetes and heart ailments may result. Physical activity and a healthy lifestyle is a practical means to achieve good health. Thus every year on the World Health Day, efforts are made to create awareness of healthy living among all young and old. “Shape the Future of life” was the theme of the parade on the World Health Day 2003. The focus was on health awareness and education on preventive strategies based on nature cure.
