Lok Adalat
In view of Article 39 and of the Constitution, which provides that the State shall provide free legal aid to the poor. Parliament enacted the legal services Authorities Act, 1987. Lok Adalats are constituted under this Act. Lok Adalats dispose of a large number of cases expeditiously and without much cost and are popular for their pro-disposal approach. They try cases summarily and through a process of arbitration, conciliation, and settlement, which brings about an amicable settlement acceptable to both parties. A mutually agreed settlement has been noticed to bring a long-lasting peace between the parties than a judicially enforced one. Lok Adalat is an effective redressal mechanism and can help a lot in lowering the workload of the courts and bringing speedy justice to a large number of people.
