Equal Pay for Equal Work

Our Constitution mandates that there is no discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, sex, or religious beliefs. In line with the Constitutional spirit of equality the Directive Principles of State Policy, contained in Part IV of the Constitution, direct the State 10 ensure that men and women are paid equally for equal work. The Supreme Court has also held that if men and women form a homogeneous class and both perform identical work, they should be paid equal wages.
