Cycle Day is celebrated on 31st May as an awareness campaign among people to understand the intrinsic value of cycle for communication. Although it is the smallest vehicle, yet it plays a great role in the movement of, to and fro for the common people.

It was invented by a British man, named Firck Patric Macmillan. But for the first time in the year 1868 on 31st May, Cycle racing was organised in France. Hence cycle day is celebrated every year on 31st May. Since 1894 manufacturing of the cycle started and it became the easiest and cheapest means of personal communication.

Nowadays, cycles are manufactured by different brand names. They are manufactured in different shapes and sizes to suit the needs of children and adults.

China is the first country in the world to have the maximum number of cycles. The cycle is the most environment-friendly vehicle with no pollution. It neither requires fuel nor does serious accidents. Rather, cycling is a good physical exercise for human beings. It could be taken or parked anywhere in a small space. Hence, the cycle is three in one machine. Common people, as well as students, can purchase and ride it conveniently.

In the modern age of air pollution, the cycle could play a vital role in movement from one place to another. The need of the hour is to recognise the benefits of the cycle by masses.
