Christmas Day – 25th December

On 25th December, Christians celebrate the festival of Christmas every year. This festival is also called ‘Bada-Din’. It is a fact that from 25th December, the days start being longer and longer until 23rd March. Christmas is a feast of joy and merriment. People decorate houses, buy gifts, arrange family get-togethers, sing carols, etc. Actually on this very day of 25th December, the God of Christians, Jesus Christ was born. Hence 25th December is very auspicious and Christians pray in churches. Churches are decorated with lights. Even shopping malls, homes are also decorated. We people go to church, light a candle and pray to Lord Christ for our well-being. The Christmas tree is decorated with lights and gifts. The Christmas Tree originated in Germany in the 17th Century. Nowadays fir trees are used for decoration. Decorating and draping a Christmas Tree can be a creative and pleasurable experience. Under this tree, family and friends keep Christmas presents and share the moments of joy, hope, and togetherness. It is customary to open gifts only on Christmas Day. The mood for Christmas sets in with the Feast of Advent, which is about four weeks before Christmas. This is the spiritual preparation by the church for the Child of Promise’ and “Prince of Peace” for Christians. The whole preparation culminates on 25th December. The Christmas Day.
