An Indian Village-English Essay, Paragraph, Speech for Class 9, 10, 11 and 12 Students.

An Indian Village

The name of my village is Chhatera. It is situated at a distance of about 20 km from Delhi. It is a model village which is visited even by foreigners. So, our government has tried to beautify this village and provide all sorts of facilities for the villagers there. The government is trying to provide all the amenities which are enjoyed by the people living in the cities. Unlike other Indian villages, which are undeveloped, this village is very much developed. Chhatera, being a model village, is the centre of developmental activities. Here the attention is mainly paid towards health and sanitation. Hospitals and child welfare centers are set up and qualified doctors are employed. There is a special arrangement for the treatment of infectious diseases like plague and cholera.

Good roads are very necessary for the villagers. So, in my village good roads have been constructed joining it with Delhi and other adjoining areas. The system of drainage is also decent and so my village is free from diseases. There are a number of roads connecting it with other villages. There is main road to Delhi so that the goods may be carried easily to the market.

There are three or four primary schools for small children and two Senior Secondary Schools-one each for boys and girls separately. There is one night school also for the labourers and workers who attend free classes from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., where they are given the training of three R’s (Reading, Writing and Arithmetic). Agricultural banks and cooperative societies have also been set up in my village for the good of the farmers. There is the office of Block Development Officer and farmers go to the BDO and get the problems of the village solved by him. He arranges loans for tubewells and tractors. Besides these, a radio set and television have been installed in the Panchayat Ghar where the people gather in the evening and get the news. Post Offices and seed stores have also been opened and are helping the villagers a great deal. It is here in the Panchayat Ghar that disputes between two parties are decided and the farmers are taught to use modern methods of agriculture.

It is a special feature of my village that the Government is taking a keen interest in its all-round development. I wants to see this village a beautiful model village as are found in the USA so that when foreigners come to visit my village, they may have an idea of how much Indian villages have progressed since independence. But we should not feel satisfied till all villages in India become like my village. It is only then we will find heaven on earth in India.
