1. Children’s Day is celebrated all over India on November 14.
2. This was the day on which Jawaharlal Nehru was born in the year 1889.
3. Nehru was lovingly called Chacha Nehru by the children of India.
4. He was very fond of them and spent a lot of time amongst them.
5. So his birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day.
6. In schools, Children’s Day is celebrated in different ways.
7. In our school, the Principal gives a speech on Nehru telling us about his childhood, his political life, and his life as Prime Minister of India.
8. Then we have a cultural programme with dance, music, drama and magic shows.
9. All the children are given a packet of sweets and a rose. Nehru was very fond of roses.
10. We look forward to celebrating Children’s Day in our school every year.
