Saying Energy At Home

Electrical energy is being used to run almost all appliances in our homes, these days. How can you make energy saving a way of life with people you live with.

Energy needs to be conserved at all time and the first place you begin with is your home.

To do so you have to know for times when energy is being wasted and bring it to the notice of your family members. Introduce energy saving patterns which slowly, with your repeated actions, will become daily habit, automatically.

It can be as routine as eating breakfast or brushing teeth. Simple ideas for energy-savings are:

Think of what you need before opening the door of refrigerator. As soon as you are clear what items you want, open the door quickly, take the item and close immediately.

While opening a refrigerator works to cool it off. Similarly it’s always advisable to keep your daily used products (milk, eggs, butter) at same place for easy remembrance, cutting down time for search.

Turning off and on frequently computers, Televisions or Radio should be avoided. It’s better to leave them on, for up to half an hour if there is a possibility of their being used. A lot of wear and tear happens when they are first turned on.

If you require two slices of toast, it’s advisable to make two toasts at a time rather than putting one after the other, as toaster consumes lot of electricity

If the room is unoccupied, turn off the lights.
