Essay on “If there were No Air” Complete Essay for Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation and other classes.

If there were No Air

Human beings need air, water and food for existence. A man can live without food for a few days and without water for a few hours. But he may not be able to live without air even for a moment. It is because air consists of gases, chief among which are oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide.

Carbon dioxide is a toxic gas and is there in air in a very small quantity. It is essential for the life and growth of plants. Nitrogen which is the most abundant gas in air is a neutral gas. Oxygen is next only to nitrogen in amount in the air. It is a life giving gas. No life-human, animal or plant life – is possible without oxygen.

Hence, if there were no air, it means automatically that there would be no oxygen in atmosphere, if any, even which normally is unimaginable without air. If oxygen were not there, there would be no living beings. The earth would be just a dead mass of rock, sand, etc. There would be no oxygenation and perhaps nothing would either live, rejuvenate or degenarate.

In the absence of air and consequently atmosphere, to think that clouds might be there would be sheer folly.
