Steam Engine
When we heat water in a kettle, there comes a point in time when the water begins to boil and steam begins to come out of the snout, at this point if the snout is plugged with something, the pressure of the steam lifts up the lid of the kettle and it begins to escape. Based on this effect a steam engine was invented by James Watt. He applied the force of the steam to a piston which was pushed by it, this piston when connected to a wheel with the help of a shaft, created motion. Since a lot of steam was used so a lot of water was also required for it, adding of a condenser to this engine, which condensed the vapour back into water, eventually solved that problem and the same water could be reused. Finally a method by which the steam could be used to push the piston both ways made it more efficient. This is how the first steam engine came into being.
