My Favourite Leader – 10 Lines

1. India produced many great leaders. One of them is Mahatma Gandhi, the ‘Father of the Nation’ also called ‘Bapu’ lovingly by Indians.
2. He is my favourite leader. He was a barrister. He visited South Africa and saw the way the Asians were treated there. He awakened them against the prejudice.
3. He gave up the law and joined the freedom struggle. His weapon was ahimsa/non-violence. His countrymen respected him.
4. He was instrumental in getting freedom from Britishers. He had been sent to jail several times, but released later.
5. He laid stress on hand-woven cloth. He lived a simple but hard life.
6. He set an example before others. He worked for the poor and the downtrodden.
7. He tried to remove class conflicts in the Indian society. He was shot dead by one of his own countrymen.
8. His death was mourned by people all over the world. He was cremated with full honours at Rajghat.
9. People go to Rajghat to pay tribute to him. He was a genius with strong will power and strong character. Even the Britishers respected him in their hearts.
