Conserving Electricity
Materials Required:
- Paper and Pencil
We use the appliances that we have at home, to reduce our workload, by a great extent. Little do we realize though that these appliances run on energy viz. electrical energy. Make a list of all the appliances that you have at your house and do not forget to add appliances like torches and portable radios, which run on batteries, which contain electric charges in them. Then make a difference chart, where you divide these items on the basis of items of necessity, of help or items of want. What comes where?
A)An item of necessity is one that you just can’t do without. Like a water pump to bring water to your taps. This water is then used for cooking and cleaning purposes, something that you just can’t do without.
B)An item of help is something that makes your life a little easier. Like a generator, which is suitable, in case there is a power failure.
C)An item of want is something, which we keep in our houses just because we like the presence of it. Like for instance, a video game or a computer. It’s just that we like the use of these things but they are not absolutely necessary for our life! Some items may have double properties, like an answering machine for telephones.
For instance, you may just install it with your telephone because you like to have it, but for a businessman, it may be an item of necessity, which he can’t do without.
