My Neighbors

It is admitted by one and that entire neighbor in India are a double edged weapon. There are good neighbors as well as bad ones. Good neighbors are a blessing from God. Bad neighbor are a curse and a scourge. I too, like all men, have neighbor to the right, to the left and in front of my house. My nearest neighbor, Mr. Dinesh, is a handsome young man. He is a senior government officer and draws a salary in five figures. But rising prices and scarcity have increased his problems. He has two grown-up sisters. But there is never a frown on his face. He is every cheerful. He greets all his neighbors with a smile. My neighbor to the right, Mr. Uma Shankar, is also a government official. His ugly wife, Sheela, is a nagging woman with a fiery temper. But he is very patient and tolerant. He is a very interesting neighbor and a friend in need. We continue to have cordial relations with him, in spite of his wife. A young couple living across the street in front of my house is a real nuisance. They have a ferocious dog who is always barking at people. The dog is seldom kept tied. All request to keep the dog tied fall on deaf ears. In fact, both the husband and the wife are no less ferocious. They are past masters in picking up quarrels and blaming others. The entire mohalla is sick of them. But we have a tolerate them. One has to learn to live with all sorts of people.
