Richard John Hadlee was born on July 3, 1951 at Christchurch in New Zealand. His ‘family is a well-known name in cricket in New Zealand. Richard is now considered the biggest name in New Zealand cricket. He has been knighted for his fine performance over the years. He is also a good writer and is married to Karen Anne.
Hadlee entered the Test cricket arena in 1972-73. Since then, he has played the role of anchorman for the New Zealand team. His overall performance has been a key parameter in their victories over the years. In 1977-78 New Zealand triumphed over England. After that New Zealand won the series against England on their home ground. In 1985-86, he took 33 wickets against Australia in only three Tests. New Zealand has won many matches against England, Australia, India and West Indies because of his sterling performance.
Hadlee is supposed to be the most technically perfect fast bowler after Denis Lilee of Australia. He set up a record of taking 300 wickets in only 61 Tests. He was only the second person to do so.
