Pythagorus was a Philosopher and Mathematician of ancient Greece., His philosophical ideas came to be known as “Pythagorian”, are concerned with the brotherhood of philosophers. He and his followers believed in the power of figures. For example, figure two stands for a line, three for surface, four for density, six for soul, seven for health and light, and eight symbolises love.
Pythagorus also claimed that metal wires can produce sound when stretched. He accepted the theory of atom and believed in rebirth.
Pythagorus was born in the sixth century B.C. in Samos, an island of Greece. He was a moralist since his childhood. He settled in Crotona near Italy when he was 50. His teachings were new for his time and were opposed by the people. Many a time his meetings were disturbed because of his unconventional ideas. The Pythagorian methods gained ground only after his death, and his name became immortal in the field.
