Donald Bradman is one of the world’s greatest living cricketers. On the basis of average run score, Bradman can easily be declared as the greatest batsman of the century. In 52 test matches Bradman collected 5,996 runs, at an average of 99.94 runs per innings. He also hit 29 centuries in test matches which was a record until recently when Sunil Gavaskar broke it. For his highest average score Bradman is called Run Machine. At one time the existence of Australian cricket team was inconceivable without him. Playing against England in 1930, he scored 334 runs which was a record. In 1936, he became the captain of the Austrailian cricket team. Bradman is the writer of many readable books on cricket including his autobiography Farewell to Cricket.
Donald Bradman was born on 27 August 1908, in New South Wales (Australia). Donald was considered a fine batsman even as a young boy and by the time he grew up, he started hitting centuries. It was in 1928 that Bradman got the chance to be included in the test team for the first time. Bradman loves solitude and playing piano is his hobby.
In his greatness as batsman, Bradman is still unsurpassed. Nobody in test cricket has been able to touch the heights of Bradman’s batting. It is, therefore, quite natural that Bradman is shown great respect in the cricket world.
