A Journey by Bus-English Essay, Paragraph, Speech for Class 9, 10, 11 and 12 Students.

A Journey by Bus

A journey by bus is dull and boring. Once we occupy a seat, we remain there till our destination. We cannot move freely in the bus. We cannot exchange our views with our fellow passengers. Instead, we prefer to keep our eyes shut. Heat in summer and cold in winter make the journey troublesome and unbearable.

I seldom travel by bus. But this summer I had to travel by bus to Delhi for I had missed the train. I had little difficulty in buying a ticket. My luggage was loaded on the roof. I got a seat near a window along the left row.

It was morning. The weather was quite pleasant. Sunshine entered the bus through the eastern windows. The passengers sitting near them felt hot while we sitting near the western windows were quite comfortable. The bus ran at constant speed along the road. Sometimes it had to cross another bus coming from the opposite direction. The road was narrow. So, it went down the road and raised a lot of dust. This dust covered our clothes and faces.

The bus reached Ambala at 2 p.m. It halted there for about twenty minutes. I had my lunch at a stall at the stand and bought a magazine to read during the journey. The bus started at the right time. It was very hot. As it drove ahead, a hot wind blew in through the windows. If we shut the windows, breathing would become difficult. We were in trouble but there was no help. We reached Karnal. Here I washed my hands and face, and refreshed myself with a cup of tea. We left Karnal after a few minutes. We were overtaken by a storm before we could reach Panipat. It blew furiously. We were held up. It was impossible to drive the bus in such a storm. The storm raged for about two hours. Then it came to a standstill and the bus drove further.

Now it went on non-stop. The weather had cooled down a little after the storm. The journey was not so troublesome as before. I reached Delhi at night. I made up my mind not to travel by bus again. But that was not right because many people prefer buses to trains. Sometimes the bus journey even though tedious has its own advantages.
