Essay on – A Burglary in Your Neighbourhood

We spend our lifetime in acquiring various objects for our household. We use our hard-earned money to make our lives more comfortable. It is but natural that we get attached to them.

Ladies love gold ornaments very much. They feel pride in making a show of their jewellery. We too take pride in possessing costly items. If by chance we lose them, we feel utterly shocked and sad.

Last night a burglary took place in our neighbourhood. In the wee hours the burglars broke into the house of our next-door neighbour. They took away gold ornaments, cash, costly items, a V.C.R, a colour T.V. set, two cameras and some costly clothes. The inmates of the house have gone to a relative’s marriage.

On their return, they found the outside lock missing. When they went in, they found their valuables missing and things thrown at sixes and seven. Mrs Gupta fainted when she found her jewellery stolen. They called out for the servant. But no one came there. He too was missing.

Mr Gupta rang to the police station. A police jeep arrived with a sniffer dog and they started the investigation. A list of lost items was made. The FIR was noted. The sniffer dog led the police to a nearby crossroad and from there the dog lost the scent. Perhaps the burglars boarded some vehicle. The police took the address of the servant. A police party was sent to the address. The servant was brought to the police station. Sustained interrogation of the servant revealed that he had masterminded the burglary. Most of the goods were recovered from another servant’s house. This servant had made several burglaries but this time he was caught by the police.
