Female Education in India

Education is as good and necessary for women as for men. It is a fallacy to contend that a women’s duties are in the domestic sphere only, and education would interfere with her duties and responsibilities. Actually, good education renders women all fitter in whatever field they may choose, and an educated woman is a better mother, better wife, and a better housekeeper than uneducated women. Taking the argument a step higher, a woman is not a men’s chattel. Men and women are partners in life, each a beloved and congenial companion to the other. For this role, each should be equally well educated. Intellectual companionship is far more lasting and satisfying than the mechanical and fleeting satisfaction of physical cravings. The child of today who is tomorrow’s citizen needs an educational mother to become a worthy citizen, and the importance of education for women cannot be too strongly stressed.
