Mother’s Day is celebrated to highlight the importance of a mother in a family. Mother is the real well-wisher of the family. She is the person who rotates herself and the family revolves around her. The mother of a family keeps busy attending to the needs of her family. Women and mothers are the strength and backbone of a family and a country. This is the only relationship in the world where the mother wants nothing but only affection from her child. Actually, a mother is a house manager. Her pains and pleasures should be understood by all family members. After all, she is also a human being. A mother is understanding and devoted to her family. It does not mean that she should be ignored.

Everybody should feel obliged to her for the services she provides for a family. Hence, she should be freed from household work at least once a week. Gandhiji said that the mother is the first teacher of a child. If a mother is given education the whole family is educated. She should be at liberty to visit her friends, watch the cinema or do whatever she likes to do on the holiday. This will improve her life tremendously and at the same time, her quality of life will improve. Thus mother will feel her worth and will feel happy and content. The sacrifices made by a mother who devotes her entire time and energy for the welfare of her family are recognised.
