Noble and virtuous deeds will continue to be remembered and revered even after the passing of those responsible for them. Mahatma Gandhi and Hitler were contemporaries who shared the political center stage of the world in the first half of the twentieth century. While Gandhi championed the cause of non-violence and universal brotherhood, Hitler propounded the doctrine of annihilation which was fuelled by evils like viciousness, intolerance, and hatred. But, whereas Hitler’s legacy was buried deep under the rubble of the destruction, the Second World War caused, only to disappear along with him, Gandhi’s ideas, owing to their popularity and vitality, are spreading worldwide even now, as strongly as ever before.
