My dear Uncle,
You will be glad to know that last Sunday was quite exciting and enjoyable for me. It was full of great fun, thrill and merry making. While our house looked like a wedding hall, I felt great like on elated groom. The guests were mostly my friends and all our close relatives and the occasion for festivities was my fourteenth birthday anniversary.
The function started in the lawn outside the house in the evening and continued till 8.00 p.m. The venue was decorated with buntings, balloons and the fanciful, coloured bulbs. There was soft light music all the time. All my friends and acquaintances had brought birthday gifts and greeted me by saying, “Happy birthday to you, Anjali !” There was cake-cutting ceremony at 6.30 p.m., followed by a group dance. While dancing, we all had snacks and drinks.
In spite of all the joy and excitement, I found your absence really disturbing, uncle ! I was wondering how a lovable, close relative like you could miss the occasion and forget to bless his own dear, niece ! In the midst of this bewilderment, a knock outside diverted the attention of all of us. When the visitor entered, he called me by name and offered a gift pack, saying, “From a beloved uncle to his dear niece, Anjali !”
For the time being, we forgot that you were not with us. I was too excited to delay opening the gift packet in-between the celebrations. It contained a beautiful SEIKO AUTOMATIC LADY’S WATCH, that was admired by all who were present with me. I do not know how it came to your mind that a good watch was my urgent need, indeed ! I have no words to express my thanks for such a lovable present.
