My dear Uma,

I was happy to learn that you have bagged the first prize in the Tilak Memorial Elocution Competition. However, I was not surprised at the news. Today women are distinguishing themselves in every field of life. Was not India ruled by a woman? Let me congratulate you on the laurel you have won.

What subject did you speak on? I know that several speeches at such competitions are penned by ghost-writers. However, I’m sure you wrote your speech yourself. Let me know all the details of the Competition—the other speakers, the judges, the reactions of the audience and so forth.

The art of public speaking is valuable. I hope that you will master it and win more such prizes. Next week I shall send you some books on public speaking.

With Love,

Yours affectionately,

Avinash
