When did man first wear clothes?

Look at the clothes you are wearing, you will ‘ find that they are made of a great variety of fabrics. We are fortunate that they are all available, imagine what it must have been like with nothing to protect you from the bitterest weather!

We do not know when man first wore clothes, but large numbers of flint scrapers found in Old Stone Age settlements, suggest that they were used for scraping skins which could then have been worn. It was not until bodkins (a kind of thick needle for heavy threads) of bone and ivory were discovered, that we became certain that primitive peoples of the northern lands were preparing skins and making them into real garments 20,000 years ago.
