Sir,

Through the column of your esteemed daily, I wish to draw the attention of the authorities to the frequent failure of power supply in our locality, Ashok Nagar.

Till about two months back, the power cut in our area was mainly during the pre-announced hours and the people were able to cope with the situation. But for the last 15 days power failure has become frequent, erratic and unpredictable.

At a time when humidity makes it a torture to sit in a room without a fan, things have become worse with viral fever rampant in the town affecting every second home. Old people and the sick have a terrible time. Pitch darkness during late evening makes going out a nightmare. Reports indicate that the general law and order situation has deteriorated in the area.

I would like to point out that the neighbouring localities like Sohan Ganj and Prem Nagar are not facing such a problem. This gives us a reason to believe that frequent failure in our locality can be due to negligence of the zonal staff.

I, therefore, request the authorities concerned to look into the matter with concern it deserves. If load-shedding becomes unavoidable, it should be resorted to strictly according to the schedule published and the time of load-shedding should be reduced to the minimum.
