Sub.: Increasing incidents of theft in the locality.

Sir,

On behalf of the local Residents’ Welfare Association, I write this to invite your kind attention to the increasing number of thefts in our locality. This has created panic among the residents of the area who are feeling insecure about their life and belongings. Over the last six months, the number of small and big thefts has increased tremendously. While in March, only three cases of small theft of household items were reported in June last, there were twelve such cases including two cases of car thefts and six cases of scooter thefts.

As most of the residents of the area are either Government employees or employees of Public Sector Undertakings or multi-national corporations, they are strictly law-abiding people and when in trouble, they naturally look to the law-enforcing authorities for the protection of their lives and belongings.

I am, therefore, to request that immediate relief may kindly be provided by way of beefed-up patrolling and posting of plainclothes-policemen in the area.

An immediate action in the matter will go a long way in restoring the confidence of the residents.
