Pte Essay on “Changes in fashion are an indication of the influence of media and fashionable things are not useful for people”
Changes in fashion are an indication of the influence of media and fashionable things are not useful for people. Do you agree or disagree?
It is an accepted fact that the modern generation is crazy about fashion. New apparels and gadgets appear every day. Most of the time, film stars and modals act as trendsetters and whatever they put on is adopted by the youth. Hence, it is widely believed that fashion is the creation of media and is not something really needed by the people.
To begin with, these days, the sales of many fizzy drinks, cigarettes and cosmetics are totally dependent on advertisements. Though many a people are well aware about the fact that these items serve no useful purpose, they are bent on using them as they want to keep themselves up with the modern society. They believe in the doctrine ‘better be out of the world than out of fashion’.
Those who blindly chase fashion point out that this is not the case. According to their point of view, fashion provides not only confidence but also convenience. They point out that every new item is in a way better than the previous. To illustrate, newer cars are always better equipped than the previous ones, newer computers are always faster and more convenient than the older ones. Thus they claim that following fashion is necessary and that fashionable things are really needed by the society.
In total, it seems that fashion is always promoted by media. However, the allegation that fashion does not reflect the need of people seems wrong.
