Swami Ram Tirth was bom on 22 October 1873 at Murli, Gujaranwala Li (now in Pakistan). His father was Pandit Hiranand and he was extremely poor. Ram Tirth was initially named Tirth  Ram. He studied Urdu, Persian and Sanskrit. He stood first in B.A. He declined to appear for the ICS examinations because of his inclination towards the spiritualism. In 1899, he got attracted towards Himalaya and set out to travel there.

Swami Ram Tirth mesmerised father Scott with his knowledge and was drawn towards spiritualism after finishing his education. He announced renunciation at a young age and became famous all-over the world in 1901. He went to Japan in 1902 and enthralled the public there with his preachings. He lighted the lamp of Indian spiritualism in the United States of America also. He impressed thousands of people during his travels.

While on his way back to India from America, Swami Ram Tirth stayed in Egypt for few days. He preached in Persian in a Mosque there and attained great fame. He was greatly honoured there. Swami Ram Tirth also wrote many books. He also indulged in Shairi.

Throughout his life, Swami Ram Tirth emphasized on individual and national independence. He was a path-finder for the youth. He attained samadhi on the Dipawali day on 17 October 1906.
