Children’s Day – 14th Nov.

Children’s Day is celebrated every year on the 14th of November to commemorate the birthday of the architect of modern India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru loved children immensely. Sometimes he became so excited that he did mischief like children. Children also got excited on his mischief like a child and responded to him by calling ‘Chacha.’

Children in the true sense, are the resources of a country. Today’s child will be tomorrow’s leader. The future of the country depends on the children. Thus children should be nurtured and developed properly to grow up into a sensitive and civilized citizen of the country. They are a national wealth.

A big exhibition is displayed at Teenmurti and Bal-Bhavan in New Delhi. Models prepared by children are also displayed to encourage our children. Children’s festival is organised at different places. Deserving children are awarded. In fact, Children’s Day should be celebrated by organising a duly formulated plan and programme for the physical, mental and emotional development of children. On this day, different competitions like sports, paintings, dance, drama and essay are organised at some selected venues. Special care must be taken to immunize, educate and nurture poor children to give strength and support in the development of strong, prosperous India. Schools celebrate this day with panoramic programmes by children and for children.
