Dear Richard,

Many thanks for your kind letter, which I received yesterday. I was very glad to read that you are proceeding on a sightseeing tour of East European countries. I hope you will combine profit with pleasure by writing a book on your impressions of these countries and the progress they have made during the last decade of the market economy regime.

As far as my personal experiences, this last week has become a memorable event for me because I had the experience of a lifetime when I had the opportunity of attending a musical extravaganza of great splendour. It was the young singing sensation Shibani Kashyap’ winner of the Channel V Award for the Best Indian Music video for the song “Ho gai hai mohabbat”, who enthralled a selected audience with her famous numbers, at Shilton Resorts while performing at the Shimla Queen Contest. The lovely and vivacious youngster with a sensuous voice treated the audience with her hits, “Thoda wakht hua hoga” and “Dil se dil ka…” in the biting cold of Shimla.

During a chit-chat with me after the performance, Shibani said performing in the mountains was a wonderful experience for her. “I love the hills as they inspire me to perform and the ambiance is great. One feels oneself with nature and it is a thrilling experience,” she added.

She has promised that if you visit India in the near future, she will be glad to give a similar performance for an exclusive gathering of ours. If you watch her performance, you will really be spellbound.
