The Children’s Day

1. 14th November is Pt. Nehru’s birthday. He was lovingly called ‘Chacha Nehru’.
2. He loved children very much. To keep his love for children alive.
3. We in India celebrate 14th November throughout India as ‘The Children’s Day’. Pt. J.L Nehru, the first P.M. of free India was not only a great patriot but also a great human being.
4. He used to be a child in the company of children. He always wanted the children of his country to grow up as good and enlightened citizens.
5. Therefore, he proposed that his birthday should be celebrated as ‘Children’s Day’.
6. On this day every year the Indian Government launches (begins) many schemes for the benefit of the Indian children.
7. All over the country the schools and such institutions hold functions and cultural events to celebrate this day.
8. Students are the center of all activities. Sweets are distributed among them.
9. Prizes are given to meritorious students.
10. Many schemes are launched to spread education among the underprivileged.
