1. Everyone has heard of Mahatma Gandhi but how many know anything about Kamaraj?
2. Kamaraj was a national leader from Tamil Nadu.
3. He actively participated in Gandhiji’s Non-Co-operative Movement and went to jail many times during his struggle for India’s Independence.
4. Kamaraj was born at Virudhanagar in Tamil Nadu. He came from a poor family.
5. He was able to study only up to the primary level. He left school and helped his father in his business where he learnt many useful things.
6. When he grew up, he joined the Indian National Congress and later became its President.
7. Kamaraj started many schools in villages for the poor people.
8. He worked hard for their progress and improved their living conditions.
9. Kamaraj died on October 2. The year was 1975.
10. His death anniversary is celebrated along with Gandhiji’s birthday in India.
