Essay on – The Children’s Day

Children’s Day is celebrated every year on the 14th of November. Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru was born on this day. His birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day. He was the first Prime Minister of India. It was because of his extreme love for children that his birthday is celebrated as ‘Children’s Day’.

All over the country, schoolchildren celebrate 14th November with great enthusiasm. They celebrate it as a festival. Balloons and flags flutter everywhere. They organize cultural programmes in schools or annual day functions or sports day in schools. Meritorious students are given prizes and sweets are distributed among students. In India, some schools organize social service camps to commemorate this day. They take out rallies and visit nearby slums or villages. There they teach children to read any write. In this way they spread the message of love and literacy, value of cleanliness and hygiene.

The government holds various competitions on the national, level, such as essay writing, planning, quiz programmes and so on. Children take part in debates, seminars and cultural activities. All these programmes are oraganized to encourage them to express their views on the topics relating to children and their welfare.

The government of India announces various schemes for the welfare of children belonging to weaker sections of the society.

Some schools invite eminent persons to encourage children through talk and interaction.

Everywhere in India this day is celebrated by one and all for the betterment of the children so that they may grow up into well-balanced citizens of the nation. We should be proud of them who are the future wealth of our country.
