World Thrift Day – 30th Oct.

World Thrift Day is celebrated to make people aware of frugality, that is, savings little by little to fill the purse, which can be used in times of need. Savings are for future prosperity. Saved money provides a sense of security. The resources mobilised have served as an input in the economic development of the people and the Nation. Hence National Savings Organisation is involved in the pious job of mobilization of resources.

Hence, to achieve prosperity and economic progress of the country, it should be our endeavour to bring each individual into the fold of small savings movement. Each and every person could be a partner in the nation’s developmental activities, irrespective of his income level. All sections of the society could invest in small savings schemes of the Government of India and contribute to the development of the nation. Due to savings done by people, the mobilization of resources for investment are essential pre-requisites for rapid economic progress and for the well-being and prosperity of our people and nation. The small savings movement has played an important role in promoting the habit of thrift amongst the masses. Thrifting habits and senses are good enough for raising resources for financing developmental activities in the country. Thus all organisations, small or big, should put in concerted efforts to encourage the habit of thrift and facilitate savings for themselves as well as for the nation. National Savings Organisation should affirm its commitment to the investors to have faith in them.

“Drop by drop of thrift, could make the Nation lift.”
