Electrical energy has been such a boon to mankind that we generally take its use for granted. We expect it to be there all the time and therefore pay no heed to it, until the time it is lost. The reasons for the loss of electrical power can range from a fault with the electric utility equipment, when strong winds can blow out the electric wires, or in the case when we use it up too much.
With the loss of electrical power, you may start operating things that you had long forgotten the use of, like candles or battery-operated torches, or may even take part in activities that you had long desisted from. Like reading a book, playing a game of chess, in place of watching TV.
There can also be serious problems due to this loss. For instance, if your house is warmed by electric heat in the winters, then a power loss would make the house very uncomfortable to stay in. Water pumps can’t work, causing more problems. There will be no water for cooking, drinking, washing or even for toilet use. Water problems are the biggest problems ever.
Make a list of all the things that use electrical energy in your house and think of some alternatives to them, so that you can save some amount of electric energy in your house. That would be a great thing to do.
