Science Project on “Energy from Storms”, Project Experiment Topics on Environmental Science for Class 8, 9, 10 and 12 Students.

Energy from Storms

Materials Required:

  1. A storm
  2. Pencil and paper
  3. An AM radio

The earth’s weather system releases tremendous amounts of energy. Lightning and similar weather factors like cyclones and wind conduct tremendous amounts of energy.

For example, a lightning bolt can release upto 100 million volts of electricity and reach a temperature of upto 50,000° Fahrenheit.

During a storm, the ‘working’ of energy becomes evident. Trees move, sand blows, papers fly through the air etc.

Note down the sounds of this energy release as in soil being pushed by water, the sounds of the rain hitting the earth, the wailing wind.

In the case of a storm, you can also tune into your AM radio, to hear the crackle and static of the radio frequency energy released by the lightning.
