“World Disability with a difference” celebrate at Govt. Model High School Sector-34, Chandigarh

Govt. Model High School , Sec-34/C, Chandigarh  organized a  rally for WORLD DISABLED  DAY. There were about   200 hundred students , Scouts and  Guides  carrying ,  Posters and Placards with raising slogans on this day. Students were accompanied  by the headmaster Dr.Vinod Sharma  and the teachers. They covered the surrounding   areas of Sec-34 and reached  Divisional library in sec-34 itself to carry cleanliness  drive under “Swach Bharat Abhiyaan.”

            The chief librarian Mr. Ravi Kant Pahuja welcomed  this step of the school  and told the students about the importance of being a member of library. Dr. Anupama ,Librarian said that  to visit to the library is always inspirational. Dr. Meenakshi another member of the library helped the students to visit to the  different sections of the library. Dr. Vinod Sharma thanked  the staff of the  Divisional library for their guidance   and support .

            Dr. Vinod Sharma being him self a differently abled person never let his disability come in his way of success .Dr. Sharma said around 15 %  of the world’s  population or 1 billon people live with disabilities .So they face physical ,Social, Economic and Attitudinal  barriers for participating fully and effectively   . They do not need  any sympathy and mercy  as they can also compete  equally in the growth of the country. Dr. Sharma said this day aims to  promote  and understanding of disability issue and mobilize  the  support  for the diganity, rights and well being of persons with disability.

            The Govt of India has also helped such persons in the way of reservation in different  services..Dr. Sharma said on this day we don’t celebrate disability but the ability that is hidden within.

            Later on a group of 40 students under the guidance of Suraj class Xth student came forward  to work for the cause of disabled children ,persons and to continue clean school and society programme. They formed a platform “ BADHTE KADAM”  to popularize ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyaan’  in coming time also.

            The students of the school  also opened their face book account and appealed the other students  and citizens of the country to form this movement for the cause of society and under privileged persons with any kind of disability .
