Paragraph on “The Light Bulb” complete paragraph for Class 9, Class 10, Class 11 and Class 12

The Light Bulb

Life would not be possible on the Earth without light. In the daytime the Sun provides us with it and after sunset, the light comes out of a device commonly known as the light bulb.

The light bulb is made of a metal base which houses a glass support through which pass two pieces of metal wire, these are joined together at the top with a tiny spiral of tungsten wire, called the filament and at the bottom of the bulb to two contacts which are connected to the electrical power source. This structure is covered with a thin, airtight glass dome filled with an inert gas like ‘Argon’ which prevents the filament from burning up. As electric current passes into the bulb, the Tungsten filament glows white hot thus providing us with the necessary illumination. In case there is a sudden increase in the current allowed to flow into the bulb, the filament might break thus causing the bulb to get fused. The brightness of the bulb depends upon it’s wattage, i.e. the higher the wattage, the greater the light emitted by it.
