Sir,

Through the esteemed columns of your paper I want to place before the public some of my views regarding the defacing of public places by political workers.

Everyone there is a general election, the city walls are painted in different colors by the workers of various political parties advertising the names of their respective candidates. They deface public places, of various political properties, municipal notice boards. Besides spoiling the aesthetics of the city, they inflict a lot of damage on the people. Many of these acts lead to clashes between people belonging to different parties. The Election Commission of India has made this defacing of walls a legal offence. Even the fear of the law does not deter people from spoiling walls and buildings. The Deputy Commissioner should enforce the law strictly and bring the culprits to book. The evil practice of defacing the walls must end. The electorate should also punish these law-breakers.

            With thanks,

Yours faithfully,

XYZ.
