Essay, Paragraph, Article on “Tendulkar Still to bat in Rajya Sabha” Complete Essay for Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation and other classes.

Tendulkar Still to bat in Rajya Sabha

When he used to step into the cricket field with his bat in his hands, his opponents used to scratch their head dejection. World’s fastest seamers and trickiest spinners looked helpless bowling in front of him. Watching him bat was equal to mesmerizing the heart and soul with melodious music. He is none other than the cricketing god, the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar.

The batsman who was famous for making bowlers bow down to him on the field, seemed so vulnerable standing on the field of politics in Rajya Sabha. Sachin Tendulkar was to speak on the ‘Right to play and the future of sports in India’ on 21 December 2017 in Rajya Sabha but he couldn’t even make the opening remarks due to the hue and cry created by Congress members.

Congress members were protesting and disrupting proceedings of Rajya Sabha over Narendra Modi’s remark on the former prime minister Manmohan Singh during the Gujarat election campaign. Modi had attacked Singh and charged him with accusations of meeting Pakistani officials and meddling Indian affairs. Since Modi’s remarks, Congress and other BJP’s rival parties have asked Narendra Modi to apologise to Manmohan Singh for degrading his image and defaming the most revered post of our country. So, since the commencement of winter session, Rajya Sabha is being disrupted continuously. Such dissolutions and adjournments are common in Indian parliament but this time an admirable and dignified person has been disrespected due to this.

The cricketing legend and Bharat Ratna awardee, when offered a Rajya Sabha seat, he modestly accepted it. Then, he was allegedly accused of not attending the Rajya Sabha sessions more often. But what is the purpose of attending Rajya Sabha if he isn’t allowed to speak in the first place? Is merely occupying the seat like a statue suffice?

Sachin’s maiden speech, in almost 4 years since he took oath as a Rajya Sabha MP, was sacrificed to the undemocratic behaviour of some members. He stood for almost 10 minutes, waiting for the loud slogans to be pacified but unfortunately the agitators didn’t show any decorum and pay any heed to his speech. Vice President of India and Rajya Sabha chairperson Venkaiah Naidu tried to make peace in the house. He even mentioned specifically that Sachin is waiting for long to speak, let him speak, he is going to present a very important subject of sports but his efforts were not enough to calm down agitating Congress representatives.

The matter here is not to curb rights of Rajya Sabha members. They have all the right to protest in the house in a democratic way but not letting an esteemed personality speak is just like killing the very own foundation soul of parliament.

Our culture teaches us to respect others point of view. Everyone has equal right to speak that’s why our constitution makers made it a fundamental one. But, sadly, there aren’t many who honor this right when it’s concerned with someone else. Loudness is slowly taking over softness and sometimes this loudness causes antipathy towards others emotions.

People today is more inclined towards speaking, and hearing has taken back stage. Nobody wants to listening anything against his preconceived notions. Bryant H. McGill, an American author, has beautifully insinuated the significance of listening in one of his famous quotes which is as follows-“One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what another has to say.”
