The Indian Police Man

Essay No. 01

In every country there are some laws. These law are made to protect he weak from the strong.  All the people have to obey them. So, some men are necessary to see that those laws are obeyed. This work is done by the police. The policeman makes the people obey those laws. Hence , the policeman is a very important person. Without him our life and property cannot be safe. His duty is to keep law and to stop people from doing crime.

There are police stations in all the towns. Every station is in charge of a station officer. He is helped in his work by a number of policemen under him. The policeman puts on Khaki uniform, khaki cap and strong black shoes. He carries a small thick stick or a gun in his hand. He is generally tall and healthy.

The policemen are in charge of certain areas. They have to  keep a watch on the activities of all the people of doubtful character. If there is any fight or disturbance in his area, he at once runs to the place and stops it. If the people do not obey him, he takes them to the police station and reports about them. He goes about in streets at night and guards our property from thieves and robbers. In fairs and large gatherings, he has to do much work. In fairs, he helps women and children who lose their people and are in trouble. The policeman sometimes is transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department. He then keep himself unknown and watches secretly the movements of the bad characters.

The policeman has to do many duties. He main duty is to keep peace and order. This is the reason that he is seen at all the important places. He is present in running trains. There he looks after the luggage of the passengers. In the market he stops people from quarreling. He checks people from gambling, picking pockets and doing other bad things. He does not let them drink wine in public place. At night he goes on around. If he finds a thief , he catches him. He arrests bad men. He sends them to the court for punishment. At times, he has to go to catch robbers.

The Government is trying to punish the dishonest officers. In Western countries, the  policeman is considered to be a very important man. Everybody has to obey him. Minister have to obey him on the road. He thinks himself a public servant in true sense.

In India, the policeman thinks himself an officer and not a servant. He does not think it his duty to help anyone in trouble. On the other hand, he troubles the poor and ignorant people. People cannot speak due to the fear of being beaten. He has lost all feeling of Kindness and sympathy.

The policeman is a very important member of the Government. He should he more educated because an illiterate person does not know how to behave towards others. He should be picked up from culture families. He should be paid according to his service.

The Policeman

A police man is a familiar figure. He wears a khaki uniform and belt on which his number is shown. He is a useful servant. He is tall and strong.

He is always alert. He puts on a batch on which his name is written. He performs his duty actively and regularly.

He catches thieves, robbers and bad characters at the risk of his life. He also arrests the smugglers, murderers and dacoits.

The policeman maintains law and order in his area. He guards our life and property. He patrols the streets during dark and chilly nights.

Traffic police controls traffic. He clears the traffic jams from the roads. He carries the injured people to the hospital.

The policeman’s duty is hard and risky. Most of the policemen are dutiful and honest.

He is a faithful public-servant. He is our social protector. He is full of discipline. The duty of a policeman is very tough. We must respect a policeman.
