Christmas Festival

All the countries and nations of the world have their own festivals. They are occasions of great joy. They give a change and relief to the tried and troubled minds of the people.

Christmas is the greatest festival of Christians. It is celebrated with great enthusiasm. It comes on the 25th December of each year. On this day Lord Jesus Christ was born.

Great preparations are made. All houses and churches are white washed. They are decorated with buntings, flowers, and pictures. They shops are also decorated beautifully.

The Christians get a Christmas tree home on this day. The tree is put on the centre of the house and decorated with lamps, toys, flowers, gifts, streamers, stars etc. it looks very beautiful. On the top of the tree a fairy is put. All the members of the house get together and sing prayers in praise of Lord Jesus. Gifts are exchanged. Greetings and beautiful Christmas cards are sent to friends and relatives on this occasion.

On the day all houses have a beautiful feast on the table. It consists of the finest things that the family can afford. The lady of the house mingles with the guest with joy and enthusiasm. Mince pies, turkey, cake, pudding are some of the delicacies on the table. After the feast everybody sings and dances. Children enjoy a lot. On Christmas Eve everybody attends the midnight mass in the church. Children sing Christmas carrots. Everybody prays that they may lead a happy life in the coming year.

The markets are very gaily decorated. Most of the big shops have special discounts and sales. Everybody gets into a frenzy of shopping. The whole atmosphere is carefree and gay. Christmas is indeed a beautiful festival.

Christmas

All the Christian countries of the world have their own festivals. They occasions of great joy. They give a change and relief to the tried and troubled minds of the people. All the Christian countries around  the world celebrate this festival with joy and enthusiasm. In India too this festival is celebrated with  joy. As Indian  has a sizeable population of Christians, the festivities of this festival are almost the same as Dusshera or Diwali.

Christmas is the greatest festival of Christians, it is celebrated with great enthusiasm like Diwali of the Hindus. It comes on 25th of December every year. It is the date when Jesus Christ was born. It is like Krishna Janmashtami of the Hindus

Great preparations are made. All houses and churches are white washed. They are decorated with buntings, flowers and pictures. The shops are also decorated in a beautiful way. Rich and poor, all enjoy the festival.

The Christians plant a Christmas tree on this day. They cut the branch of a tree and plant it in a corner of the house. Then they decorate this tree with  lamps and toys and flowers. At night, it looks very beautiful. All the members of the house sit together and sing prayers in praise of Lord Jesus. Guests and friend also join them. Christmas gifts are presented to them. Christmas gifts are presented to them. Christmas greetings and beautiful Christmas card are sent to friends and relations on this occasion. All faces look bright with joy.

Then the people hold a feast. It consists of the finest things that the Christian family can afford. The lady of the house in her best dress moves about with great joy and enthusiasm. She takes pride in showing her clean plates, table clothes and sweets. After the feast they dance and sing. Most of the Christians, drink a little wine on this day. They enjoy the dance and music very much. They dance in pairs, holding hands of each other. The children also do the same. The festival comes to a close late at night. All gather in the Church to pray to God. They pray that they may lead a happy life in the coming year.

It makes the people remember Lord Jesus who is thought by them to be the son of God. God sent him to save the people from sin and misery. He saved them and died on the cross for them. All those who have faith in him shall be saved. Thus this festival teaches them and their children to live a noble life of prayer, love and sacrifice. The festival comes to an end amidst fun and laughter. It teaches us the value of love and sacrifice.
