India and South China Sea dispute

When China is influence India’s patch and making checks on Indian influence in subcontinent region. India should also raise its influence in South China Sea for balance. India has very friendly relationship with Philippines; Vietnam like countries located next to South China Sea, India should hold these countries for economical and military ties. These countries are associate and customers for Indian Strategic Policy. India should also extends its moral support these counties’ genuine and justifiable rights over South China Sea .India’s involvement in South China Sea is mainly due to  economic reasons, to counter China and to preserve good relations with ASEAN. China is the most destructive among all the nations involved in the disagreement which uses its military and supporting might to maintain its sovereignty, almost over the entire region. China has in progress for land reclamation in the region which can be used for warships and military. This has deteriorated China’s relation with ASEAN.
India sees this as a chance to develop strong relations with 10 ASEAN nations and Japan. India is gain support from other countries in times when China creates a problem for India.

The South China Sea is witness of a rise in marine tensions. China landed two warrior jets on Woody Island a subset of the Parcel group of islands. After that PLA positioned air missiles at the same location.  A series of about 200 kilometers the new HQ-9 missiles can intention aircraft approaching China’s claim spaces in the South China Sea. The latest satellite images of some of the Spratly Islands showed likely radar infrastructure, signifying that the PLA may already have established full radar coverage over the SCS.

There has been much assumption over China’s planned intentions in the South China Sea. The act of placing missiles on hesitant about the territory has been broadly interpret as a hardening of Beijing’s maritime posture not just on account of the direct threat the missiles pose to foreign air operations in the South China Sea, but also because the new defender complement the PLA’s existing air warfare ability on Woody Islands.

While India isn’t party to the South China Sea dispute, four aspects of the recent developments may interest New Delhi. The First irrespective of the claims and counter claims by the United States and China, it is clear that Beijing operate from a situation of strength in the South China Sea, wherein it has physical control over critical islands in the region. China has shown the U.S. and its associates that what matters in a maritime territorial dispute is the actual possession of the islands, and as long as the PLA exercises military control over the features, it will exploit their location to support broader territorial claims. As the disputed islands are militarized, it could endanger freedom of navigation, making Beijing the main arbiter of the accepted range of legitimate operations in the South China Sea.

China’s action of influence over areas of maritime interest is mostly through indirect means. In the immediate aftermath of the new radar installations in the Spratly’s and deployment of missiles on Woody Island, it looks increasingly likely that Beijing would impose an air defense identification zone (ADIZ) in the South China Sea, ensuring the PLA’s dominance over the surrounding air-space and seas. At present, the likelihood of Chinese aggression occurring outside the disputed maritime spaces in Southeast Asia looks remote. Yet, there is no discounting Chinese maritime assertion in other areas where Beijing might have strategic interests – including critical spaces in the Indian Ocean. For Indian observers, it is useful to extrapolate known Chinese positions in the IOR, to assess Beijing’s likely strategic behavior after the PLA has established a foothold in critical Indian Ocean states. As a key security provider in the Indian Ocean, New Delhi appreciates the need for greater stability in the region.
